Trasferitosi in Spagna per comporre alla corte reale, è ritratto in un dipinto di Goya del 1783 insieme alla famiglia del giovane Don Luigi.
Quando le truppe Napoleoniche spazzano via la monarchia Spagnola si trova quindi disoccupato e finirà la sua vita in povertà.
